Max Miller has not only produced winning teams but he made football cool at Cordova High School. He is fondly remembered for eliminating home games on hot Saturday afternoons and turning them into cool action under the lights on Friday nights. The Lancers were an area powerhouse. The 1985 team was the first 14-0 team in the Sac Joaquin Section history.
Miller had two stints at Cordova (1981-93 and 1999-2007. He started his coaching days in 1974 at Rio Americano and ended it there by returning in 2012. In 2010 he was the Defensive Coordinator at Folsom High and helped lead the Bulldogs to the 2010 State Championship.
Max was a true innovator with his high scoring offenses and featured some of the most electric players the area has ever seen. He helped continue a tradition that Ron Lancaster built and then he took it to another level. All in all he was a fixture in the community as will always be known as the winningest high school football ever in the Sacramento area.
