Fans witnessed a historic night as Sacramento's top five greatest athletes were honored as part of the first ever Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame Celebration at Thunder Valley Casino Resort on February 2nd.  The evening was highlighted by the induction of superstar athletes Dusty Baker, Bill Cartwright, Kevin Johnson, Tony "The Tiger" Lopez and Summer Sanders.  All were honored for their tremendous lifelong accomplishments and hometown pride.

These five athletes were voted in by the great Sacramento sports fans who cast their ballots during the open voting period of November 20th - December 20th.  Over 7,300 people cast their votes during this period.

Fans were treated to a very lively and energetic celebration that featured speeches from the Inductees and their presenters as well as live entertainment.  Comedian Dennis Gaxiola provided a humorous look at the inductees having the crowd and the inductees rolling.  TC Martin hosted the event and energized the crowd on the mic and kept the night flowing smoothly.  Fox 40's Sports Director Jim Crandell, the longtime veteran sportscaster guest hosted and was the presenter for Kevin Johnson. 

Fans were treated to amazing video tributes of all the inductees as well as heartfelt opening and closing video slide shows accompanied by music.  After the induction ceremony fans had the rare opportunity of meeting the inductees on the arena floor for autographs and pictures. 

The event was a huge success as the packed house at Thunder Valley was treated to an entertaining and fun evening.  The fans got to be part of this up close and personal setting that was a classy and fitting tribute to these national superstars who call Sacramento their hometown.  The Sacramento Sports Hall of Fame is off to a tremendous start and continues to grow in popularity.  Fans and athletes alike are still talking about the gala and are already planning to attend next year's event.   Don't miss the 2014 version as it promises to be even bigger and better.
