Just about every player you talk to that played for Jerry Weinstein at Sacramento City College, will tell you that he was the best coach they ever played for.  Jerry was a player’s coach and he got the maximum effort from each of them.  Many of the area’s best players came through Weinstein’s program and several went on to play in the majors.

Jerry started his career at Sac City where he coached for 23 seasons and won 831 games.  His 1988 and 1998 teams won the State title and the National Junior College Athletic Association Championship. He went on to become Director of Player Development for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies and also managed in several professional leagues including five years in Modesto.

He has served as an assistant coach for Team USA on the 1992 Olympic team; coached Team USA to a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympic Games and Gold in the 2005 Maccabiah Games; and managed Team Israel in the World Baseball Classic in 2017.  He is currently the manager of the Hartford Yard Goats, in the Double-A eastern league, in the Colorado Rockies system.

Jerry has been elected into the Sac City Hall of Fame, Community College Hall of Fame and the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. He has dedicated his life to the game of Baseball and players in Sacramento are grateful for his passion and leadership.
