The 2nd annual Sacramento Spots Hall of Fame Celebration was filled with an abundance of honor, fun and emotion.  The class of 2014 featured the induction of Tedy Bruschi, Jeff Float, LeRon Lee, Debbie Meyer and Steve Sax.  The evening was highlighted by speeches from the inductees and their presenters along with video tributes celebrating their careers and a comedic roast.

All of the inductees attended except for Bruschi who was on assignment working for ESPN preparing for the Super Bowl.  Tedy was represented by his friend and former Roseville High School teammate Josh Tindall.  Tedy acceptance speech came via video from the ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut.

An added highlight was the inclusion of local longtime Special Olympics athlete Donald Schendel.  Donald has competed since the age of 10 and has won 218 medals over his 44 year career.  Doanld’s inclusion as part of the class of 2014 was indeed a very special moment as his charisma and determination was on display to the huge crowd.

For the second straight year, the evening was a huge success and filled with tribute and laughter.  Comedian Dennis Gaxiola provided most of the laughs as he roasted the inductees with his brand of sarcasm and humor ultimately praising the great accomplishments of these great athletes.

The night also featured members of last year’s inaugural class participating and attending the event.  Dusty Baker presented longtime friend LeRon Lee into the Hall and Bill Cartwright addressed the crowd speaking about what his induction last year  meant to him.  Tony ‘The Tiger” Lopez  also attended along with many of the nominees. Former news anchor and  reporter Beth Ruyak presented Jeff Float and gave a sterling speech about Jeff’s career and the obstacles he overcame.

It was a fantastic presentation and tribute to our local superstars.  The evening was another success and supported by our great Sacramento area sports fans, athletes and media.  Thanks to all of those who came out and experienced this truly unique and great event.
